Taking the Leap: Embracing Change Through Discomfort

Sometimes the biggest changes in life happen when you take a leap.

Almost 12 years ago, I left the military and stepped into the beauty industry. I am absolutely terrified of heights, but I felt like I needed to do something bold to clear my head and make sure I was making the right choice back then. So I jumped out of a plane. Twice. It was one of the most exciting and terrifying experiences of my life, and it taught me something I have carried ever since: being comfortable leads to stagnation and moving into a space of uncertainty is usually a sign you are moving in the right direction.

Facing Uncertainty In The Clouds

That moment stayed with me because it reflected something I have seen over and over again in life: people often know they need a change, but fear keeps them from moving forward. I have watched people settle, stay stuck, and tell themselves "maybe someday," only to realize someday never comes. I did not want that to be my story.

A Childhood Seed Planted by Passion

Even as a kid, I knew I was drawn to the beauty industry. My grandmother owned her own salon back in the 1950s, and when she talked about her work, you could hear the passion in her voice. She loved what she did, and that kind of passion leaves an impression because it is something you can't fake. She even gave me classic perms in the 1980s, and that early exposure planted a seed in me that never really went away.

Transitioning from Army to Aesthetics

When I was considering what I would do after my 10-year Army career, hair was the first thing that came to mind. I remember being only five weeks into my hair program and questioning whether I had made the right decision. But I stayed with it, and that choice led me to aesthetics, a field that I quickly fell in love with. After completing cosmetology school, I intentionally chose to continue into aesthetics because if I was going to leave the military and build a new path, I wanted it to be one I cared deeply about.

Why I Chose Aesthetics

What drew me to aesthetics was not just the industry itself, but the impact it can have. So many people struggle with what they see in the mirror, and social media only makes that worse by feeding comparison. I loved the idea that even a small change, made by the right provider, could help someone feel more confident and more like themselves.

Experiences That Followed From Jumping

Since graduating from aesthetics school in early 2014, I have worked in many different roles. I have done inside sales, helped shape what almost became a research and development role for a device, worked in med spas with talented teams, transitioned into physician sales, and provided education to aesthetic institutions. Along the way, I also coached and guided professionals through career transitions and business challenges.

Those experiences taught me a lot. I saw what worked in top practices, what held struggling ones back, and everything in between. I also learned how important it is to bring something real to the table. If I ever brought a product or device to your door, it was because I believed it could truly improve outcomes for your clinic. I cared about that then, and I still do now.

Encouragement for Those Considering Change

I did not become a consultant because the aesthetics industry needed another coach. I became one because I grew tired of hearing the same empty promises, that if you just follow one formula, your revenue will magically skyrocket. That is not how real growth works.

This industry is evolving faster than ever. New trends, social media pressure, e-commerce, incredible advancement in regenerative medicine, AI, and an endless stream of products and devices have made the landscape more overwhelming than ever. Your clients feel that pressure too. In a crowded market, your greatest asset is your individuality. You cannot afford to be a carbon copy of the business down the street.

My work is designed to protect and amplify what makes your business unique. I help aesthetic professionals understand business, build systems and strategies that fit their vision instead of forcing them into someone else's mold. If you are looking for the same generic advice everyone else is offering, I am probably not for you.

If you want fresh ideas, honest conversations, and a different way of thinking about your business, then I look forward to earning your trust, sharing a few laughs, collaborating, and possibly jump out of an airplane together.
